How do you increase a stitch in the middle of a row?
Stitches can be added invisibly or decoratively; slanting to the left or right; at the edges or in the middle of a row. On a knit row, work until position for increase is reached. Bring yarn forward between the needles and back over the right hand one. Knit the next stitch.
Why do I add a stitch when knitting?
An “accidental yarn over” occurs when you bring your yarn to the front of the work (as opposed to keeping it in the back). Then, when you go to knit the next stitch, the working yarn goes up and over your needle creating an extra loop on your needle as it makes that next stitch. This will also create an extra stitch.
