Materials:

Worsted weight yarn 4 around 60 yards.

6.00 mm (J) Hook

Tapestry Needle 

Scissors 

Optional: Faux fur Pom. 

Crochet terms:

SC – Single crochet. 

BLO – Back loop 

Sl St – Slip stitch.

Ch 1 – Chain 1.

Sk – Skip

Ch 3 – Chain 3. Also counts as stitch throughout pattern. 

Shell stitch – Double crochet 5 in designated stitch.

DC – Double crochet.

FO – Fasten Off.

BO – Bind Off. 

Gauge:

Row 1: Ch 16, HDC in 2nd st from hook and each across, ch 1, turn. (15)

Row 2: HDC in each st across, ch 1, turn. (15)

Row 3-8: Repeat row 2. (15) 

4 in x 4 in. 

Beginning with brim.

Row 1: Ch 6, SC in second stitch from hook and SC in the next 4 stitches, ch 1 and turn. (5)

Row 2: SC in same stitch SC in BLO in next 3 stitches, SC in last stitch ch 1 turn. (5)

Row 3: Repeat row 2 until you reach 36 rows. (5) 

At the end of Row 36: Ch 1 and turn then line both ends up and sl st to close. Do not fasten off. 

Top part of hat. 

Row 1: Ch 1, SC 36 evenly around. Sl st to first SC. (36)

Row 2: Ch 3, 4 DC in same stitch, (When beginning with ch 3 you only need 4 more DC in designated stitch to make the Shell stitch.), sk 2 stitches, *SC in the next stitch, Sk 2 stitches, Shell stitch in next, Sk 2 stitches, SC in the next,* repeat around. Sl st to top of ch 3. (36)

Start by making the square panel:

Attaching 2 Panels:

Turn backpack right side facing out and using Fur yarn, reattach yarn to top right corner and SC around entire top of backpack opening, FO, weave in ends. 

Drawstring:

Using main yarn and N hook.

Ch 61, FO, add aglets to ends of drawstring if desired, then weave drawstring through 2 back loops and 2 front loops where ch2sp openings are. 

Backpack Strap Option:

Using main yarn and K Hook.

Reattach yarn 5 stitches in from the right below ch2sp rows and SC around post stitch which is the post between 5th and 6th stitches, SC around next 3 post stitches, Ch 1, turn. (4)

Row 2-3: SC in each stitch across, ch 1, turn. (4)

Row 4-46: (1st strap) SC in same stitch and next, ch 1, turn. (2) When you get to row 46, FO, leaving a long tail to sew strap to the bottom of the backpack. **Optional if wanting a snugger fitting backpack do 10 less rows and stop at row 36 for both straps.**

(Second Strap)

Reattach yarn to 1st SC on right, SC in next stitch, ch 1, turn. (2)

Row 5-46: SC in same stitch and next, ch 1, turn. (2) When you get to row 46, FO, leaving a long tail to sew to the bottom of the backpack.

Purse Strap Option:

Using Fur yarn and N Hook. 

With Fur Yarn reattach yarn to top right side of opening of backpack, Ch 31, Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each ch down, FO, weave in ends. Cut long piece of fur yarn, and using tapestry needle sew purse strap to opposite side of opening directly across from where strap started.

The Go-to Knit Beanie

Skill Level:  Beginner Intermediate 

Gauge: 4“x4“ = 11 st x 18 rows

Cast on 11 sts,  with 9 mm needles. Leave 18 inch long tail. 

K1 in each across, turn P1 in each across continue to K1 row, P1 row alternating for 17 more rows, total of 18 rows. Swatch should measure 4” x 4”

Materials:

  • 1-2 Skeins Bulky Yarn (5). Lion Brand Color Made Easy-120 yards.

  • 9 mm, Size 13 circular Knitting Needles on 9” cord.

  • Large Eye Tapestry Needle

  • Stitch Markers

  • Scissors

Knit Terms:

  • CA- Cast on

  • K- Knit 

  • P- Purl      

  • St- Stitch 

  • BO- Bind off or Cast off

Tips

If you have a smaller size head for an adult make child size. 

Hat is worked in rounds. Make sure to cast on loosely for more stretch. 

Using the Standard Cast Off

Knit the first two stitches. Start by knitting the first two stitches moving from the left needle onto the right needle.

Insert the left needle into the first stitch. Lift the first stitch over the second stitch. Repeat the process. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. 

Sizes:

0-3 Months 12”-13”  in Green ()

3-6 Months 14”-15”  in Purple ()

Toddler 16”-18” (Fits 9 months-2 year olds) in Red () 

Child 18”-20” ( Fits 3-10 year olds) in Blue ()

Adult 21”-22” (Fits 11 year olds- Adults) in Black ()

Beanie pattern:

Cast on (32)(36)(40)(44)(48) sts with 9 mm needles, leaving long tail before casting on, but feel free to use a stretchy method of your choice. Join your work to work in the round, being careful not to twist. (32)(36)(40)(44)(48)

Rounds 1-6: [k1, p1, k1, p1] Repeat [] (7)(8)(9)(10)(11) more times, place stitch marker at the beginning of each round to keep track of rounds. Repeat round, 5 more times. *Should have 6 rounds when done with this section.* (32)(36)(40)(44)(48)

Rounds 7 and on: [k1, k1, k1, k1] Repeat [], around for rows 7 on and place stitch marker at the beginning of each round to keep track of rounds. Repeat round, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 more times. *Should have 24, 26, 28, 30, 32 rounds when done with this section.* (32)(36)(40)(44)(48) BO very loosely, leaving 18 inch tail to weave tail using tapestry needle in and out along the top every 2 stitches along top, pull tight and finish off, weave in ends.*
